Where Do You Start in Aesthetics?

When beginning your journey into medical aesthetics, the sheer variety of training options, such as fast-track courses, combination courses, Level 7 qualifications, etc.. can feel overwhelming.

Historically, practitioners have started with  foundation level  Botox training courses, then undertake additional, focused courses to build on their skills, either progressing onto the use of fillers or the more advanced use of Botox.

With the advent of level 7 courses, that combine a number of  disciplines in aesthetic medicine,  in a structured way, over a set period, can seem appealing. They  offer a sound and effective learning platform and provide a formal  qualification at the end.

But what if you are at the very start of this journey and just want to see if, well, you feel suited to the career. You certainly don’t want to make the financial and time commitment needed for level 7.

This is why short-, one- or two-day courses are still popular and serve an especially important role as they provide an insight into the discipline and whether we feel this is right choice for us.

Importance of getting the right start in aesthetics

However, choosing the right course is essential, it is a common misconception outside of the aesthetics industry that these are easy courses compared to  healthcare. This, in part, is due to the lack of regulation within the industry as well as a lack of awareness of the subject matter.

In recent years, the rise of combined one day Botox and filler courses has created a tempting “fast-track” option for newcomers, effectively covering two disciplines in one and providing that overview.

So Why Not Combine Botox and Filler Courses in One Day?

While it may seem appealing , in our opinion, this approach is fundamentally flawed for beginners.

Combined courses may promise efficiency, but they compromise the learning process by spreading content too thin. Without dedicated time to learn new skills in either Botox or fillers, you risk leaving the course feeling underprepared and overwhelmed, which can affect both your confidence and the quality of your work.

This does not provide you with  adequate insight into the subject matter, nor provide the necessary exposure to the treatments.

Some providers even offer to return if you don’t feel confident. What is the point in this, you want a course that provides the knowledge and experience to start undertaking treatments independently. This simply won’t be the case on a combined Botox and filler courses.

At the  LW Aesthetics Academy, we  focus on delivering  high-quality content with  thoughtful course design that engages with  different  learning preferences and styles. More specifically, we focus on one subject at a time, which for those new to the subject, is key to learning.

We make no apologies for how steep the leaning curve can be and once completed you will appreciate how difficult it would be to try a one day  combined botox and fillers course and learn to the standard that is needed.

As you embark on your aesthetics journey, remember proper training is not about speed but about building a solid foundation. Avoid shortcuts and invest in quality education tailored to one area at a time. Your future career—and your patients—will thank you for it.
